Part-time employment report

If an international student wishes to work part-time outside of his/her academic schedule, he/she must obtain prior approval from the Immigration Office before starting work.
Failure to comply may result in fines and penalties, and denial of visa extensions and approvals.

Q. How do I get a part-time job?

A. Visit the International Student Support Center to receive guidance on required documents and have them verified.
Visit the Immigration Office, submit your application, and receive a part-time work permit. Then, begin working.

  • Required documents: Application form, passport, alien registration card, part-time employment confirmation, copy of business registration certificate, standard employment contract, TOPIK certificate

  • Students who are not eligible for part-time work: Students with a GPA of 2.0 or lower, students who have completed undergraduate studies, and students who have completed more semesters of undergraduate studies

Available part-time work hours

1st or 2nd year university students, TOPIK level 2 or lower

10 hours on weekdays and weekends


1st or 2nd year university students, TOPIK level 3 or higher

25 hours on weekdays, no restrictions on weekends/holidays


3rd or 4th year university students, TOPIK level 3 or lower

10 hours on weekdays and weekends


3rd or 4th year university students, TOPIK level 4 or higher

25 hours on weekdays, no restrictions on weekends/holidays


Graduate school students, TOPIK level 3 or lower

15 hours during the week and on weekends


Current university students, TOPIK level 4 or higher

35 hours on weekdays, no restrictions on weekends/holidays


Graduate school graduates, TOPIK level 3 or lower

15 hours during the week and on weekends


University students who have completed their studies, TOPIK level 4 or higher

30 hours on weekdays, no restrictions on weekends/holidays
